COVID-19 and Tax Due Dates Changes
Dear Clients and Friends,
We hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe in this difficult time.
On Monday March 23rd, Daigrepont & Brian converted primarily to a remote work environment in keeping with Governor John Bel Edwards proclamation to “stay at home”. Accounting services are an essential business function so our office is still operating with minimal staff necessary to support our remote workers. Although our lobby is closed to the public, you can drop off your tax or accounting documents through the drop slot in our rear lobby door, and our office administrator will route it to the your tax preparer.
The IRS and State of Louisiana have extended the due date and payment date for 2019 personal income tax returns to July 15, 2020. Estimated tax payments for 2020 income tax returns that are due between April 15th and July 15th have been extended to July 15, 2020. If you’re stuck at home we encourage you to pull together your tax information and get it to us as soon as you can. We expect that the economy will get back to business very quickly once the Covid 19 pandemic is brought under control and we want to be prepared to service all our client’s critical needs when that time comes. Remember that we can complete and e-file your income tax return, and any payment due will not draft from your account until the July 15, 2020 deadline. If we have already completed your income tax return…thank you!
Congress has passed legislation to help families and the US economy recover from the Covid 19 pandemic and resulting quarantines and shelter in place orders. More legislation is expected for both families and business taxpayers. We will post legislative information to our website as it becomes effective.
Stay safe and when we have the all clear from our government leaders, we look forward to seeing you out and about with your family and friends.
